It’s easy to arrange a visit to St Peter’s. Simply fill out our Visit Us form and our friendly admissions team will contact you to arrange a convenient time and date for your visit.
Our helpful Admissions Calculator will confirm when your child can join St Peter’s School based on their date of birth. Our standard points of entry are Nursery and Reception, Year 4 (prioritised for York Minster Choristers), Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12. A limited number of spaces may also be available in Year 6 and Year 10 each year. If you are interested in admissions to other year groups, please contact us for more information.
St Peter’s School is oversubscribed and you should aim to apply at least one year in advance.
- Applications for Nursery, Reception and Year 4 to Year 10 must be submitted by 31 December before the year of entry.
- The deadline for Lower Sixth applications is 31 October before the year of entry.
Please note that year groups outside of the main entry points (which are Nursery, Reception, Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12. Entry for York Minster Choristers is Year 4) are usually oversubscribed so please contact the Admissions Team before applying to enquire about availability if you are looking for entry to other year groups.

A £90 non-refundable registration fee is payable on registration. If you are applying for bursary fee assistance you will not be asked to pay the registration fee.
You will also be required to pay an Acceptance Deposit (£350 payable by the parents of each pupil on acceptance of a place). Parents of pupils whose normal residence is outside the United Kingdom will be asked to pay an Additional Deposit (one term’s fees less £350) instead of the Acceptance Deposit.

All children applying to St Peter’s School are assessed in some way, ranging from an informal assessment process for younger children to age-appropriate entrance assessments from Year 1 upwards. Should a year be oversubscribed, some pupils may be invited to join a waiting list, from which offers can be made at any time up to the beginning of the new school year should a place become available.
Our minimum academic requirement for entry to the Sixth Form is six GCSEs at grade 6, or equivalent. However, entry is extremely competitive and in most circumstances it is likely that candidates will need to perform well above this level to be successful in securing a place.

We welcome a number of children to St Peter's from Armed Forces families each year. We understand the importance of stability for children whose parents are in the Armed Forces and we provide a supportive and nurturing environment where boarders can thrive, with exceptional pastoral and academic support.
Boarders are cared for by our Houseparents, matrons and catering team, who dedicate their time to creating a home away from home. Our Houseparents maintain regular communication with parents.
