Our pupils enjoy a wide variety of opportunities in Art and Design beyond the classroom.
Art and Design are embedded into the curriculum at St Peter's, using STEAM as a framework for Early Years. These subjects also form part of our thriving co-curricular programme. As pupils progress through the school, they build confidence with materials and machines, enabling them to fully create their artistic and engineering endeavours.

Pupils can take advantage of the outstanding facilities including large drawing and painting studios, printmaking facilities, photographic darkroom, ceramics studio, an extensive art library and computer suite, and our own exhibition space The Whitestone Gallery. Using equipment such as 3D printers, lathes, sewing machines to name a few, opportunities are endless.
The department also have an impressive record for successful Arkwright scholars, who receive financial backing, a Dedicated Engineering Mentor, Industry-based Connect Days and potential work experience opportunities to support them through their A Levels.
The Design and Technology Department also run the after-school club Makerspace, where creative and like-minded pupils can gather to work on projects, sharing ideas, equipment and knowledge. Activities include Jesmonite Casting, Mask-making, Birdhouses, Laser Cut Christmas Decorations, Embossed Bookmarks and Wearable Electronics.
