Over the course of the academic year, our co-curricular programme provides a huge variety of groups, clubs and societies.
All co-curricular clubs and societies are available to pupils at no extra charge, serving to enrich their school day and find unexpected passions for everyone. They take place either at lunch time or after the school day.
Social Action
Volunteering is an important part of life at St Peter’s. Pupils volunteer their time in many different ways to support the local community.
From the younger years visiting care homes, charity committees across the school and older pupils volunteering their time with external organisations, the importance of giving back is ingrained within the school.

Eco Clubs
We teach children from an early age to take initiative in looking after our environment and helping us to be a more sustainable school.
We are proud recipients of the Green Flag, and have Eco clubs across the school that help us continue to improve.
CCF
St Peter’s CCF is an Army Section affiliated to the Yorkshire Regiment.
Pupils may join CCF in the Year 10 (Fourth Form) and their CCF journey begins with basic training, which includes training in weapon handling, drills, First Aid, navigation, military knowledge and fieldcraft.
Senior Cadets undertake training in advanced fieldcraft, command and leadership activities, communications training, survival skills, method of instruction, problem solving and critical thinking tasks.
St Peter’s runs a number of offsite activities, and cadets at all levels are invited to try other activities such as arrow tag, archery, military swimming, and a military style dinner night is held periodically.

Duke of Edinburgh and Junior Dukes
The DofE award is a recognised mark of achievement and respected by employers.
Junior Dukes starts from Year 4 with each participant choosing seven out of the ten challenges offered by the scheme. When a child completes their seven selected tasks, at the nearest possible assembly, he or she is awarded a certificate and badge.
Pupils at St Peter’s from Year 9 (Third Form) can embark on a DofE programme at one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The expedition is the highlight of the award for many pupils. At Bronze level, Practice and Qualifying expeditions take place in the local area of the Hambleton Hills. For Silver and Gold expeditions, pupils venture out to the Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Junior Dukes is a national programme run for the younger years, which is much enjoyed by many. Pupils can sign up to work towards badges and proudly display them on their school uniform.

More clubs and activities
With hundreds to choose from across the school, it would be impossible to list all of the co-curricular opportunities available for pupils.
New clubs are added every term, covering everything from journalism to mathletics, and we encourage pupils to participate in as much as possible to discover and follow their interests.
