This half term, Year 1- Year 3, will be covering gymnastics in their core PE lessons and football in their games lessons.
Gymnastics is fundamental to a child’s development, focusing on the development of key muscle groups, mobility and balance. They will be focusing on travel, balances and flight throughout the 6 week half term.
Football for Years 1- Year 3 focuses on developing basic skills and having fun. Children learn ball control through dribbling and passing games. Small-sided games - 3 vs. 3 - encourage teamwork and understanding of basic rules, giving each child plenty of touches on the ball.
Reception classes are super excited as they start their Christmas performance dance routines in Core PE. This week, each class listened to their routine song and explored their creativity through dance movements to the music. Additionally, the children have been exploring superhero words and coming up with actions to relate to each word, making the learning process both fun and engaging.
During their games lessons Reception have continued to explore fun target practice games to further develop their rolling and underarm throwing skills.
Our Nursery children have been busy exploring their fundamental skills. This week, Conkers have focused on balancing while moving, using different locomotion skills. They also took on the tricky challenge of balancing a quoit on their heads, which was both fun and educational.
The Acorns have been exploring different ways their bodies can move. This week, they engaged in activities such as twisting, jumping, and rolling a ball around their bodies. These exercises help them understand and enjoy the various ways they can move and control their bodies.
