Olé! St Peter’s thriving MFL Department was living la buena vida when it organised a wonderful Fourth Form Spanish evening complete with tapas, salsa dancing lessons & talks from talented Ops, who have gone on to further excel in Languages.
Former pupils Oliver Millman and Rohan Choudhury kindly returned to school again to regale pupils with tales of successfully living and working abroad. Oliver now works in Pharma consultancy using his Spanish skills and Rohan works for a London tech company, where his French and Spanish skills are essential.
Oliver: “Languages are such great skills to have for life. It’s really rewarding in my multi-national job to travel and translate for people in work meetings.”
Rohan: “At times I wondered if I would ever be good at Spanish. Effort goes a long way. Watch Spanish shows, travel, open your mind. My life is awesome, right now, through the many opportunities Languages have afforded me.”
After these insightful talks, initially shy pupils were encouraged to sway their hips to the infectious salsa beat and soon got the hang of dancing with their partners.
Chef Calvin in Catering rustled up amazing, authentic tapas complete with churros in chocolate, Manchego cheese, plump olives and juicy meatballs; a tasty reward after a tiring dance workout. The evening was a maravilloso success.
