The Physics Olympics, where each year over 25 schools join our Year 8s for a challenging yet fun day of completing 5 lab challenges, a Fermi quiz and taking the Grand Cup, was another fantastic day to remember.
In its 16th year of sharing Physics knowledge and pushing students to draw on, “Physics skills they didn’t know they had” (from last year’s feedback), the competition goes from strength to strength.
St Peter’s Head of Science (& Physics), Mark Edwards, said: “Both our pupils, and teams from visiting schools, are doing advanced Physics together, which isn’t an ordinary part of their curriculum. It’s a great day out for all and a chance to engage in real teamwork through problem solving. At the end of the day, they all realise they can do it.”
St Peter’s Head of Science Outreach, Andy Parr, encouraged pupils to: “Have fun whilst picking up extra Physics skills. There’s friendly competition, with prizes and a trophy. We’ll show you just how enjoyable Physics can be through our exciting lab challenges.”
The winner of this year’s competition was Queen Ethelberga’s College, with Bradford Grammar School coming in second place and Bootham School in third.
Congratulations and thank you to all schools that took part - see you all next year!
