Year 1 started back in January with their new book 'The Wild Robot'. Pupils have followed Roz on her adventures making friends amidst danger and hardship.
In the last week of the first half of term, Year 1 were busy creating their very own films which they watched as part of their 'Roscars' ceremony.
Year 1 created puppets and a scene from their favourite parts of the book. The pupils designed and made their own setting using recyclable modeling materials before adding speech bubbles for their characters. Teachers taught the children how to write their own scripts and put it all together using clever movie apps such as Spark video or iMovie. Pupils added sound effects and character voices and music to make their very own movies come to life!
Staff sent invitations out in the post which included mocktail recipes and pupils were asked to bake some robot-themed goodies to eat whilst watching the movies.
On the day of the Roscars, pupils and staff watched their films whilst sipping mocktails and eating their homemade Robot-themed cakes, dressed in their best finery and all from the comfort of their own homes!
We were amazed by the brilliant films the pupils scripted, directed, narrated and produced, complete with sound effects, scenery and speech bubbles.

we were going to do winners, but they were all so amazing that we decided not to and just celebrate them all!

I was really really excited for the Roscars event. I made my scene using paper mache, cardboard, pencils, pens, paint and paper. We also had to use the copier to make the drawing of Mr Beaver smaller. It was lots of fun to make the movie. I enjoyed doing the voices. It was really amazing. My friends made great movies too. I was really proud.
We can't wait to see what happens next with their Robot adventure.
