St Peter's 2-8

The theme this term is Amazing Adventures, Incredible Explorers.

St Peter's 2-8 are diving into a new term with a new theme and enthusiasm for life beneath the sea!

Year 1: Deep Discovery (key text Manifish by Jennifer Berne)
The Year 1 children arrived back to school after the Easter break to discover their new learning environments that have been inspired by the sea and the 'Manfish' by Jacques Cousteau. The children have been designing and creating a waterproof outfit as well as inventing their own deep-sea creatures! The children played 'Fish Guess Who!' As they wrote down funny adjectives to describe some truly unique fish.

Year 2: Underwater Explorer
This term has certainly started with a splash for Year 2! As part of their big reveal Year 2 were put through their paces with some diving and swimming activities. This was to complete their 'Explorer Training' inspired by their story, ‘The Secret Explorers and the Lost Whales’.The children loved using their goggles and snorkels to complete the activities. The children also designed their own ‘Secret Explorer’ badges.

Year 3: Around the World in 80 Days (key text by Jules Verne)
It has been an adventurous start back to school for Year Three! The children have been whisked off on an exciting adventure around the world in 80 days. When the children arrived at school they dived straight into looking at places around the world and finding rhyming words to go with them to write their very own poems int eh style of Pie Corbett’s 'A Chance in France'. They carried out some research and used Google Earth to look at the earth and discovered some interesting facts; did you know that 70% of the earth’s surface is covered in water? This inspired the children to create their own planet earth using balloons and paper maché. They began their class text for the term and have been getting to know the main character Phileas Fogg and some of his character traits.
