Children and staff at St Peter's 2-8 have been celebrating World Book Day this week.
This year's theme is 'You Are A Reader', inspiring children to discover the joy of reading for pleasure. Children at St Peter's 2-8 learn about the importance of reading through their termly learning themes, with each theme centred around a book.
To celebrate World Book Day, St Peter's 2-8 enjoyed a non-uniform day on 3 March and staff and children were encouraged to dress up in costumes inspired by their favourite book. It was great to see such a variety of amazing costumes, many from the themed texts they are reading in their year groups. There will be a winner & runner-up in each year group for their fantastic 'recycle, reuse & create' themed costumes.
Our teachers in Year 2 even dressed up as their learning theme 'Alice in Wonderland'! Well done to all the children and the staff.
The children also participated in the ‘I am a reader’ photo competition by getting their photo taken in the most unusual places they could find to read. We have had children on camels, in a chicken coop and on top of a tractor wheel to name a few! The photos were up on display in the library along with their guess the teacher quiz. Thank you to Mrs Salisbury for organising this wonderful week of reading activities for the children.
Ms Veasey, our drama teacher at St Peter’s 8-13, led workshops all week and the children thoroughly enjoyed acting out different scenes from their favourite books.
