On Thursday 10 March the 1st IV senior girls travelled to Sunderland to play in the LTA Youth Senior Student Regional Finals (North).
The team of Dasha, Anna, Izzy and Captained by Flora competed against Stonyhurst to be crowned the Northern champion with each player competing in singles and doubles.
The quality of tennis on show was extremely high with all players responding well to playing in a fantastic tennis centre and in front of Lawn Tennis Association officials. With coaches allowed on court they could witness first-hand how well our players competed and kept their heads during their fiercely contested matches.
After all players had completed their best of three set singles St Peter's had a 6-2 lead but the match was still in the balance going into the doubles.
Our first pair of Dasha and Anna secured the title with a convincing 6-0 6-2 win before Izzy and Flora showed excellent concentration and commitment to win their doubles in a third set tie-break to complete a resounding victory.
Helen Barnard, Head of Girls Sports at St Peter's 13-18, said: "Winning the North finals is an excellent achievement by the team and is a reward for their continued efforts and commitment to tennis all year round."
