St Peter's 2-8 were incredible in their recent Sports Day. All of the children from Reception to Year 3 tried their absolute best for themselves and their house and most importantly of all, they did it with a huge smile on their face. Every child took part in a variety of events on the day and prior to Sports Day children competed in field events such as high jump, long jump and ball throw. Despite the very warm weather, the children performed extremely well, with some children breaking school records. At the end of both events two athletes of the day were selected, and a Rita Resilience Award was presented as well as a sportsperson award too. Our thanks to all the children for trying so hard for their house, to the parents who came to spectate and cheer all children, the grounds and estates teams for preparing the venue, the catering team for keeping us all refreshed, and the teaching and teaching assistant staff who supervised and organised the children and to Miss Flockhart (assisted by Miss Hopper) who organised two brilliant sports days. A massive thank you also to the Friends of St Peter’s 2-8 for providing the coloured house t-shirts for the second year running!
Miss Flockhart, Head of PE at St Peter's 2-8, said "I was so proud of all my superstars on Sports Day this week. The children have worked extremely hard on their practical skills the last few weeks in PE and it was amazing to see them in action. The atmosphere was fantastic and it made me burst with pride seeing everybody smiling and cheering on one another in their races."
