In the spring term, our strongest middle school pupils attempted the annual UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. Those pupils achieving particularly high results are invited to partake in follow-on rounds. This accounts for roughly the highest 8% of all scores achieved by participants, and this year we had 17 of our pupils achieve this incredible level and were able to complete the Kangaroo competition, with a particular mention to Chihiro and Gabriel for obtaining a merit result.
Further to this, the best 1500 pupils nationally get invited to an even more prestigious round, the Mathematical Olympiad. Amber was the only pupil to qualify for the Olympiad this year, completing a difficult 2-hour long paper with six challenging maths questions. Amber did fantastically well and was able to attain a distinction certificate for her efforts.
Congratulations to Amber!
