Congratulations to Will and Scarlett who have each received the prestigious Award of Arkwright Scholar.
Arkwright Engineering Scholarships exist to identify, inspire and nurture future leaders in Engineering. The rigorous selection process seeks to find the highest-calibre school pupils who have a strong academic and practical ability in technical subjects. Not only do Scholars benefit from a coveted two-year Arkwright Engineering Scholarship which is widely respected by academia and industry, but they receive a financial award of £200 per year, to help with the cost of materials, equipment and activities to optimise their studies towards a career in Engineering. They also gain access to a wide range of enrichment events and opportunities such as Connect Days, work experience, summer schools and technical lectures, and are paired with a dedicated mentor to support them through their Scholarship, and potential Undergraduate Engineering Scholarships as their career progresses.
Scarlett has also been shortlisted in this year's Top 5 of Vodafone's Innovator's Project Competition.
She has secured as her prize a Fast Track Pass for their apprenticeship program which includes a £21.5k salary and her university fees paid to study an Electromechanical/Software/Network or Cyber Security Engineering degree of her choice. It is certainly an advantageous position to be in - to have so many avenues open to her.
Applications for this year's Arkwright Scholarships are now open.
Any pupils considering applying for the coming year, are to attend a short meeting at 1pm on Monday 26 September in Foster, which will outline the process.
If pupils cannot make the meeting, please contact Mrs Staniforth via teams to collect an information pack.
