Caring through Cooking

Pupils from the Lower Sixth Young Enterprise Group have formed the Social Enterprise ‘Caring Through Cooking’ Cookbook.

The main focus of the cookbook is to bring generations together after lockdown through cooking. The cookbook is also designed to enable families of people affected by Dementia related diseases to partake in the simple act of cooking.

In order to make this possible, the pupils have created a cookbook full of family favourites, all accompanied by an online tutorial accessed through a unique QR code. All recipes are accompanied by St Peter’s own star system for difficulty and any potential health and safety risks have been removed. The group have also taken into account the guidelines for every patient’s recommended diet.

The Young Enterprise Group, said: “Through this everyday act we aim to bring generations together, we want to bring back a spark of joy and a glimmer of happiness.”

Mr Shread, who co-ordinates the Young Enterprise group, said: “The pupils have made excellent progress this term and if you would like to purchase one of these lovely cookbooks they are available for £10.”

Mr Jeremy Walker, Head Master of St Peter's School, said: "It is wonderful to see the return of Young Enterprise to St Peter’s and the cookbook is a great combination of caring and entrepreneurship.  I know how much the pupils have enjoyed being involved and recommend the recipes!"
