Last weekend our Fourth Form Army cadets deployed on their first overnight field exercise to Strensall.
The cadets put their recently acquired skills to practice, including cooking military rations and putting up shelters. The pupils had lessons in judging distance, target indication, different ways to move around in the field and how to deliver a Fire Control Order.
The exercise ended with a ‘sniper stalk’ during which cadets had to carefully conceal themselves and move towards an enemy position without being spotted.
The staff were very impressed with the effort and enthusiasm of all the cadets who took part. Mrs Sleigh said:
It was great to see them working together so well as a team and achieving so much at this early point in their training.
