Thursday evening saw our annual Choral and Orchestral Concert, with over 70 pupils performing music by Woolfenden, Mozart, Telemann, and Fauré. We opened with the Wind Band performing two movements of Celebration, a work commemorating the life of Murray Slater, and conducted by Dr Harrison. The String Orchestra then accompanied Sixth Form soloist Eunice Yu, playing Telemann’s Viola Concerto in G major, followed by the Symphony Orchestra playing the Finale from Mozart’s iconic Paris Symphony, both conducted by Mr Wright.
Finally, we moved to the Chapel, where we were joined by Harrison Gration (OP Clifton, 2021), singing the baritone soli in Fauré’s Requiem. The Chapel Choir and Choral Society, conducted by Mr Miles-Kingston, sang alongside a string and harp trio, with organ accompaniment underneath. The performance was especially poignant as we celebrate the centenary of Fauré’s death, and we are grateful to Harrison for lending his talents to our music making!
Huge congratulations to all of the pupils and staff involved, both past and present. It was heart-warming to see so many faces from across the years come together again for this occasion. Special thanks to Mr Miles-Kingston, Mr Wright, and Dr Harrison for a stunning end to this busy term in our Music Department!
