After a long competition, The Junior Inter House Debating Final was held today at lunchtime.
It has been wonderful competition and particularly impressive as students who have never debated before continue to step up to represent their Houses every year - a sincere well done to everyone who has done this!
Today, The Rise and The Grove went head to head, arguing the motion TBHT young people are discriminated against in Britain. Both sides argued brilliantly, with Mr Walker describing it as the best he has seen. The teams had prepared well, providing definitions of discrimination, and discussed the question of whether Britain's Equality Act prevents discrimination completely.
Ultimately, Mr Walker and Head of Debating, Bea, decided that The Rise should be crowned winners this year.
The Grove were given special praise for their ability to adapt quickly as a two person team, in the absence of their usual first speaker.
