Earlier this year, Upper Sixth pupil Rory launched a soup run to support the over 60s in his local community.
Rory launched the soup run in March in the village of Husthwaite in North Yorkshire, delivering nutritious soup to his elderly neighbours twice a week. Rory even fashioned a delivery vehicle out of his Dad's golf trolley to deliver the soup safely.
Rory's selfless actions were praised by his local Parish Council and he was chosen as a 'Local Hero' on BBC Look North for supporting others during the pandemic. Please click here to read more.
Despite returning to school in September and entering his final year in the Upper Sixth Form, Rory has persevered with his soup run.
On his final run before Christmas (20 December) Rory will deliver his 1000th portion of soup. He will have walked an incredible 82 miles, used 280 kg of vegetables and spent 228 hours of his own time making soup.
Mr Jeremy Walker, Head Master of St Peter's School, said: "It is great to see Rory having continued with his soup run and shows his great commitment to looking after neighbours in his local community."
Well done Rory. We are all 'soup'er proud of you!
