To celebrate LGBT+ History Month, pupils at St Peter's 13-18 were invited to enter a competition to produce a poster, infographic, or short film about an inspirational member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Pupils researched influential people from the LGBTQ+ community, and celebrated the important work carried out by individuals and communities to ensure that LGBTQ+ history is recognised and remembered. This year's theme was 'Body, Mind, Spirit' and it was wonderful to see students celebrating the rights of everyone to be themselves.
A prize for the best individual entry went to Rithika (Fourth Form) for her well-researched and thoughtfully produced poster.
The best group entry was submitted by Naomi, Freya, Ella, Maddie, Flora and Rose. The pupils worked together to research and report on influential members of the LGBTQ+ community. They have been studying 'Equality' in their Spanish lessons and therefore focused their work on creating a Spanish- English presentation.
Miss Edgar, English Teacher, said:
It was fantastic to see our pupils keen to take part in celebrations for LGBT+ History Month and remember the role we all play in looking to the past as we work towards everyone being free to be themselves.
