Over the weekend, our swimming teams travelled down to London to compete in the annual World School Swimming Games at the Olympic Pool. This year, the teams won 33 medals! This included 9 Gold, 12 Silver and 12 Bronze.
A group of ten swimmers, Callum, Alfie, Olly, Harvey, Charles, Polly, Em, Victoria, Sophia and Alice competed with swimmers from around the world in the World School Swimming Games. Two days of fierce competition and fabulous swimming saw the athletes come away with 33 medals between them. The girls dominated their age category and were awarded the Open Age Girls’ Champions’ Trophy. The boys also put in a fantastic showing and finished second behind an American International School.
The combined First and Second Teams were enough to claim the Overall Open Age Winners. The team should be very proud of their achievements and were excellent ambassadors for the school on the international stage. Friends were made from many different countries including America, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia and Ghana. Special mention to Em who picked up 5 Gold medals and Callum who collected a Gold and many Silvers, just behind swimmers who had placed top 8 at the recent Olympic trials. Charles clocked 2 new school records in his bid to claim Silver and Bronze medals, such was the strength of some of the opposition.
