Huge congratulations to OP Anna, who has been selected for the senior Scotland netball squad for the 23-24 season!
Whilst studying at St Peter’s School for Sixth Form, Anna played for, and captained, the U19 Girls’ Netball Team. Having left St Peter’s with A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education, Anna is currently studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham where she plays 1st Team Netball.
Trials were held earlier this month and were the most fiercely competitive to date, according to Netball Scotland’s Performance Director, Karen Atkinson. Atkinson also expressed excitement, saying “The strength and depth within Scottish netball has never been better, which made this the most competitive selection process to date,” and that “It is exciting to see Erin [Bolland], Jazmine [Moore], and Anna [Fairclough] make the step up to the Thistles squad following impressive displays at U21 level...”
The intense selection process came under the guidance of former Head Coach Tamsin Greenway.
Head of Netball, Steph Wilson said:
“To see a former St Peter’s netball captain on the international stage, performing at such a high level and achieving her dream, is inspirational. Anna has worked for many years to achieve such heights and to see her step out on court, wearing a Scotland Thistles dress, will be an incredible moment for her and the whole St Peter’s community. We are delighted and very proud of Anna and are looking forward to continuing to follow and support her future success.”
