Phoebe Hall
Old Peterite Phoebe (2018) was recently shortlisted from over 10,000 entries to the BBC Introducing Live Lounge Competition. She was picked to represent North Yorkshire as one of the top five of 72 artists and tells us how this fantastic opportunity came about.
Having spent the last year in and out of lockdown at the University of Edinburgh, where she is studying Philosophy and Theology, Phoebe had been working on writing music with a friend and one song in particular “Just the same”. She was encouraged by her sister to enter the BBC Introducing competition with this song, and says if it wasn’t for her family encouraging her she wouldn’t have entered.
Phoebe credits St Peter’s with helping develop her love of music; she was in all three choirs at the end of Sixth Form and sang with the Barbershop.
Phoebe started writing her own material in Sixth Form and sharing her music on Instagram and YouTube. Starting at Edinburgh in 2019, she joined the a cappella group and takes part in competitions, Phoebe enjoys having this outlet to balance out the academic side of university life.
Phoebe was delighted with how supportive the school and Paul Miles-Kingston have been, using the Music Department to help record her entry.
