There are currently 42 pupils receiving fee assistance at St Peter’s on an average 75% remission on fees including some on 100% remission. With your help, as we move towards our 1400th anniversary in 2027 we aim to more than double that number.
Why is this so important?
Widening bursary provision enhances the St Peter’s community. Pupils on bursaries bring great talents to St Peter’s which benefit not just them but also their peers and the whole school. We want the school community to reflect the wider world. St Peter’s can and should increase its impact on social mobility in York, Yorkshire, and the wider region.
St Peter’s will be holding a brand new Keys For Life Gala Dinner on the 24 November to allow parents and members of our community to celebrate the transformational impact of bursaries and our aim to grow this impact. The dinner will be held in the beautiful setting of York Minster Refectory and guests will be amongst the first to view the premiere of our Keys For Life Fundraiser film. The first ever St Peter’s Online Auction will also close at the event.
Anyone can bid on our various lots, which include an overnight stay at Goldsborough Hall, an at-home dining experience for up to 8 guests, an enchanting evening at the opera, and a week’s exclusive use of a Scottish castle for up to 15 people. If you fancy a little nostalgia, you can bid on a 1:1 rowing session at St Peter’s, or an old chapel hymnbook – there really is something for everyone.
By participating in this auction, you will be directly influencing young people’s futures. One of our former bursary recipients reminded us recently: ‘I think St Peter’s gave me a grounding to believe in myself and it was that foundation on top of the academics that helped me make the most of myself.’
You can find our Online Auction here, follow updates on social media and can bid until 10pm on Friday 24 November. Good luck!
To promote our fundraising to pupils, we will share our plans for Launch Week across the 2-18 community. They will be amongst the first to view the Keys For Life Fundraising film before its public launch on Monday 27 November and will be encouraged to find hidden keys around school. The purpose of this activity is to remind our pupils of the invaluable life skills and knowledge they acquire here. Just like finding hidden keys, they are constantly discovering the keys to unlocking their potential and becoming lifelong learners.
