There have been two events that the OP golfers have been involved in already this year and Old Peterite Joe Copley has kindly shared an update with us.
Triangular Match with OUGS and LUGS
In March 2022, we were invited to play in a triangular match with the Old Uppingham Golf Society (OUGS) and the London Universities Golf society (LUGS) at New Zealand Golf Club in Surrey. The result was a draw, with Matty Roberts and James Lloyd scoring our points with a win in the morning foursomes. The weather was perfect and the course was in fantastic condition. Big thankyou to the Lloyd’s for organising. Also, congratulations to Joe Copley for a Hole-in-One on the Par 3 10th.
Grafton Morrish Qualifiers
In May 2022, we played in the Grafton Morrish qualifiers at Fixby Golf Club. Last year we qualified for the first time in 25 years. Unfortunately, foursomes aren’t a forgiving format and with a total of 77 points, we missed out on automatic qualification by a single point. However, we did qualify through a ballot of best non-qualifiers and now have the national finals at Hunstanton to look forward to in October. The OP vs OG match is to be held at Fulford Golf Club, York on THURSDAY 30th June.
The OP Golf day is to be held at Strensall Golf Club, York on FRIDAY 23rd September. (Please note the change of date from the previously advertised fixture of Friday 3rd September)
